Huggies Forum: Frequently Asked Questions
General Forum Information
01. What is the Huggies Forum?
The Huggies Forum is an online discussion forum. Huggies Club
members can use the forums to post and read messages about topics that interest
them concerning pregnancy, babies and parenting.
02. How do the forums work?
The Huggies Forum is made up of a number of forum groups. Each forum group has a name, for example 'Pregnancy & Birth' and contains several forums such as 'Planning for Pregnancy'. The forum groups and forums are set-up by the Huggies Forum team. Within the forums, you can create 'topics' for discussion. Other members can read through topics and 'post' their own replies.
03. What is a 'topic'?
A topic is a subject for discussion within a forum, for example ‘Coping
with Morning Sickness’. There can be many topics in a forum. Within
each topic, members can read and post their own replies. Or members can
start their own new topics to start a new discussion. It is important that
the subject of a topic is clear and descriptive. This will help members
understand what a particular topic is about.
04. What is a 'post'?
A post is a message which has been submitted to a topic. If you post to the forum it is a public forum and can be read by other members and the general public.
05. What is a Private Message?
Members can send each other private messages that are not able to be viewed by the general community. This is similar to an email.
06. What does the information on the forum home page mean?
The Huggies Forum homepage provides you with a menu of the main forum groups (eg Your Baby) and highlights some topics that have recently had replies. You can find links to our Frequently Asked Questions, Terms and Conditions and the latest hot topics on the forum.
07. How do I read posts and topics in the public forum?
The first step is to click on a forum. This will take you to the discussion
area for that forum and will display all of the topics within that forum.
By clicking on a topic you can then read through the posts which have been
submitted by other members.
08. How do I get started posting?
Sign in to the Huggies site or if you are not already a member join a Huggies Club member. This will provide you with access to the full forum and many other exclusive benefits as well.
09. How do I post a new message?
To post a new message you first need to be logged in. You can post a new message by clicking on the 'New Post' button which appears at the top of every page. You can then proceed to type your new message and submit it to the forums.
10. How do I reply to a post in the public forum?
To reply to an existing topic, simply select the topic that you wish to reply to and click on the “reply to post” button. You will then see a box where you can then type in your message.
11. What other functions are available when creating or replying to a post?
You will notice a few other buttons that you may find useful:
Quote – this copies the text from the post that you are replying to and includes it in your post.
Cancel – this cancels your reply and no message is posted.
Preview – this allows you to see how your post will look before you submit to the forum.
Submit – this is the final process when posting a message to the forum.
Help with formatting your post – this gives you guidelines so that you can include bold text, italics etc.
Emoticons – you can add these to your posts. They can help to convey the tone of your message.
12. How do I choose a forum username?
You can select your own personal username by updating your details. This is a name that other members can identify you by and is able to be viewed by the public. It should not contain your email address or personal contact information.
13. What is a signature?
This signature follows after each of your posts. An example may be “Mum of 3 from NSW.” It is not essential to have a signature.
14. Is there a limit to signature size?
We ask that you keep your signatures relatively small. As a rule, please
do not exceed 50 characters. This will ensure that the forums load quickly
for all users.
15. Do I have to accept cookies?
Yes. Cookies are used to track which posts you have read for your current session. Without accepting cookies some functions of the Huggies Forum will not work properly.
16. Why is a post's subject so important?
The first post of a given topic establishes the subject by which all
subsequent replies will be known. Once there has been a reply, the topic
subject cannot be subsequently changed. It's therefore important to get
the subject right from the outset. Make it as descriptive and as specific
as possible without being too long..
17. How do I layout my posts so that I have white space between paragraphs?
By hitting return twice, on your keyboard, at the points where you
want to insert a paragraph break.
18. Can I start my own forum?
No. Forums can only be started by the Huggies Forum team. If you have a
suggestion for a new forum, please send us an email via the Help menu at the
top of the page.
19. Can I start my own topics?
Yes. You can start topics and other members can reply to your topic
by posting their messages. Simply click on the relevant topic to your post,
and then click on 'New Post' just under the search bar.
20. What is a 'pinned' or 'sticky' post?
A pinned post is similar to any other post, with the exception that
it has been assigned a higher priority. It can be displayed at the top of
it's category for a specified time period and it might contain an important
topic or an announcement. A pinned post can only be posted by a Huggies Forum administrator.
21. Can I search the forums?
Yes, simply type your search terms into the search box that appears above each forum post, and click the search button. You can also click the 'Advanced' search button for more particular queries.
22. Can I add an image to my message?
No. The Huggies Forums are for discussion only. If you wish to send images to other Huggies members, it is best to email them directly to one another. You can use our Private Message area to share contact details with trusted members.
23. Is there a spellchecker?
No. If you want to be sure that you are word perfect, you'll have to
spellcheck your post in some text editor and then cut and paste it into
the forums edit box.
24. Can I include HTML links in my post?
Yes. Simply use the following code in your message and replace the
LINK NAME and LINK ADDRESS with your information: [a href="http://LINK
ADDRESS"]LINK NAME[/a]. Use the “Need help to format your post” option at the bottom of your post for more information.
25. Why is my old username no longer working and why can't I update details with my old username?
If the email address that you registered with the old Parents Exchange is different to the email address that you have currently registered with the main Huggies site, then your old username will not have been imported into the new Huggies forum. Since the new Huggies Forum is now totally integrated with the main Huggies registration, your email address and username must match.
All 'new' members have been preallocated a username made up of random characters. To make a change to your username simply update your details and select a new username. Remember that this name is public and can be seen by visitors to the site.
If you know your old email address that you used when you first registered with Parents Exchange and it is still an active account, then you can update your details with this information.
